From August 30, 2013 to September 2, 2013, the annual Romanian Pentecostal Convention from North America was held at Happy Valley Romanian church (led by Pastor Cornel Avram) in Phoenix, Arizona. The last time the convention was hosted in Phoenix was in 2006. Overall, the convention has been running for a straight forty-five years. Each year the convention is assigned a certain topic, or tema, from which the pastors are to draw their sermons from. This year the topic was “descopera pasiunea slujirii” or in English “discovering your passion for serving”. Romanians from Romania, Canada and around the United States gathered in an approximate attendance of 3,500-4,000 for all three days of the convention. Credo TV, a relatively new Christian Romanian network, was in charge of filming, transmitting the service online (which is featured on their website at www.credo.tv) and reproducing the convention into DVDs.

The USA has overcome a lot of obstacles in order to establish democracy in the complicated corner of national governments since its very beginning. This year, the biggest and most acclaimed nation that started out with only thirteen small colonies and a handful of immigrants celebrated its two hundred and thirty-seventh birthday with pride and glee through a holiday called 4th of July (or more professionally Independence Day).

By the time the Declaration of Independence was adopted in July 1776, the Thirteen Colonies and Great Britain had been at war for more than a year (1). Because of the high taxes issued to the colonies by the then greatly powerful Britain and conflicts that arose between the Founding Fathers and King George III, the infant nation America decided to declare independence from Great Britain’s stronghold over them. The independence idea was introduced to the congress by mastermind Richard Henry Lee (3).

În ultimele săptămăni, la Curtea Supremă de Justiţie “Maricopa Superior Court” din Phoenix, Arizona, s-au adunat mii de persoane, printre care şi sute de reporteri interesaţi de procesul lui Jodi Arias (32 de ani).

Arias a fost găsită vinovată, la începutul lunii mai 2013, de uciderea prietenului ei, al cărui trup a fost descoperit înjunghiat în cabina de duş din locuinţa acestuia din Mesa, Arizona, în urmă cu cinci ani. Travis Alexander a fost înjunghiat cu un cuţit de mai multe ori (27), avea gâtul tăiat şi era împuşcat în cap.

Ciudat este faptul că în aceeaşi clădire, la etajul 5, se judeca o altă crimă, la fel de odioasă, comisă de Michael Lee Franklin în Tempe, Arizona, dar care nu a captat atenţia mass-media, aşa cum s-a întâmplat în cazul Arias-Travis.

Într-o combinaţie unică, pe baza unui verset din Biblie, o prestigioasă companie americană produce una dintre cele mai sănătoase pâini din lume. “Food for Life” a creat o gamă întreagă de produse de panificaţie, cereale şi macaroane cu ingrediente din grâne diverse. Cei mai mulţi oameni îşi închipuie că pâinea este un aliment foarte simplu, puţini cunosc principiile complexe ce pot fi folosite la fabricarea pâinii. Cei mai importanţi factori care au impact asupra calităţii pâinii sunt ingredientele, fermentarea şi modul de coacere. Pâinea “Ezechiel” foloseşte “reţeta” din cartea profetului Ezechiel la capitolul 4, versetul 9 din Biblie: “Ia-ţi şi grâu, orz, bob, linte, mei şi alac, pune-le într-un vas şi fă pâine din ele”. Şase tipuri de grâne şi legume preparate şi combinate formează ceva uimitor. Ce este diferit legat de această pâine este că grânele menţionate mai sus, înainte de-a fi utilizate pentru fabricarea pâinii, sunt puse la germinat. Doar în felul acesta pot fi extrase anumite minerale şi vitamine din aceste grâne, care în alte condiţii nu ar putea fi fructificate.

It's no secret that Agape Romanian Church in Arizona is the place "unde dragostea este la ea acasa" or "where love is at her place", so it's also no surprise that the spring church picnic for the tightly knit band of loving brothers and sisters at Agape shone, even in the heat of approaching summer.


The picnic was located at the lush and serene Anthem Community Park in Anthem, Arizona. With it's stunning fishing ponds and naturistic decoration, and a long list of community activities, no park could have better suited the lovely church gathering. While the prized chefs cooked "mititei" (my personal favorite)- a traditional beef and pork sausage mixed with multiple basic condiments grilled over a fiery grill flame- and a few other main dishes, the women of the church brought homemade delicacies and side dishes ranging from delicious potato salad, to only the best pastries this side of Arizona.

Cu braţele încărcate cu flori, primăvara a coborât uşor pe pământul încă îngheţat şi zgribulit, ascuns sub mantia subţire a unei zăpezi târzii. La atingerea ei, ghioceii au ieşit să se scalde în lumina palidă a soarelui şi firele de iarbă au început să înverzească.

Grădinile s-au trezit din amorţeală şi au privit cu mirare covoarele de viorele şi brânduşe, lalele şi zambile, frezii care se aşterneau peste pământul rece. Copacii s-au legănat uşor sub atingerea vântului şi-au început să se îmbrace cu muguri proaspeţi. Doar păsările uimite îşi scuturau penele ciufulite, neştiind dacă ar trebui să înceapă să cânte…

Sunt multe lucrurile care te impresionează, atunci când ai ocazia să călătoreşti prin Ţara Sfântă: locuri pitoreşti, încărcate de atmosfera unei istorii pline de semnificaţie, clima specifică Palestinei, bisericile ridicate în amintirea diferitelor evenimente relatate în Evanghelii. Dar cu siguranţă că pentru un creştin care ajunge pe acele meleaguri, cel mai important lucru îl reprezintă conştientizarea faptului că tot ce s-a scris despre Domnul Isus Hristos reprezintă o realitate palpabilă.

Din acest punct de vedere, putem spune că mărturiile trecutului biblic se constituie asemenea unei Evanghelii inscripţionate în vestigiile care ne-au mai rămas din acea epocă, în geografia pământului ce a fost martorul vieţii Mântuitorului şi în mulţimea de oameni care într-o formă sau alta, conservă spiritul celor care au locuit dintotdeauna, acolo. Nimeni nu va putea spune vreodată, după ce a călătorit în Ţara Sfântă, că nu a fost atins de imaginea Celui numit Isus din Nazaret.

Interview with German Singer Florence Joy Enns - by Octavian D. Curpas


Florence Joy Enns (Büttner) is a famous young German singer, writer and actress. She likes to travel and has visited several countries from Europe, Israel and the United States. Florence plays guitar and the piano, and she speaks her native German and very good English. Most of her songs from the album “Hope” are in English.

 

In 2006, Florence Joy Enns (Büttner before she married) was invited to perform in the (dome) church of Munich for the inauguration of the Soccer World Championship. One year after this astonishing performance, she started acting in the role of a sweet girl called “Jasmin” in a German daily soap “Ahornallee”. Also, Florence wrote a book called I want to live truthfully and real, which tells about her journey through the German casting show “Star Search 2” and mostly how she lives her life with Jesus Christ.

Remember, how God created man? Out of dust, yes, you and I were nothing but, dust! No one likes dust on their shoes, clothes…in fact some may even be allergic to dust. God was not allergic to it, nor did He get rid of it. Why? He had a better plan, a bigger picture! All of that changed when God created man out of that dust and breathed life into him...“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”, Genesis 2:7.
