As the senior year for many of our youth is coming to a close, they have begun planning for college and their future careers. Many colleges nowadays are very difficult to be accepted into, with lots of top of colleges admitting less than 1 in 5 applicants. With these odds, students must work especially hard throughout all their years of high school in order to compete for the limited number of spots.
We are proud to say some of our Romanian children have been accepted into some of these colleges. We would also like to take a moment to congratulate them on the colleges they have been accepted to as well as many of the things they have achieved in high school in order to get into them. We would like to honor three of our amazing Romanian students, Sophia Brinzei, Andreas Georgescu, and Nicolas Vidu.
Sophia Brinzei is graduating from Bella Vista Highschool with a 3.9 GPA. Sophia loved swimming since she was 7 years old, when she started out at Gold River Swim club, where she continues to swim today. She is also one of the best swimmers on the Varsity Swim Team at Bella Vista Highschool, being their Team Captain. Sophia has been to 8 prestigious universities:
UC Santa Cruz – Psychology; UC Merced – Psychology; University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) – Nursing; Chico State University – Nursing; Sacramento State University – Nursing; University of Pacific – Undeclared; University of Hawaii at Manoa – Nursing; Grand Canyon University – Nursing. Sophia decided to pursue Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Andreas Georgescu is a high school senior at Granite Bay High School in Granite Bay, CA, expecting to graduate in May 2024. He has always been a kind and creative person, an adventurous spirit, ready to spread his wings and take on the world and all it has to offer. From the early days of friendly competitions in Lego Robotics and Destination Imagination, to competitive swimming, and love for music and musical instruments as a band player, Andreas developed an appreciation for various professions and careers. Ultimately, his natural curiosity about world cultures and international business led him to pursue a degree outside the US. After a thorough exploration of multiple international business programs, Andreas chose and was accepted into a program which fits his goal to grow as a professional able to work in multicultural environments, with the international business management program at Toulouse Business School (TBS) in Barcelona, Spain. Andreas is very excited to count himself among the students at this “triple crown” internationally accredited, multi-site program. Designed to prepare students for the world of international business, the TBS bachelor program offers the opportunity to study at any of its four campus locations in Toulouse, Barcelona, Paris, and Casablanca as well as a mandatory semester abroad at partner universities around the world.
Nicolas Vidu is graduating from Casa Roble Highschool in Orangevale with a 4.4 GPA, and he kept busy during high school with multiple extracurricular activities. He became the President of the Mock Trial team, arguing constitutional law in downtown Sacramento’s Gordon D. Schaber Courthouse in front of actual Judges and Attorneys. He is the Vice-President of Casa Roble Interact Club - a community service club - as well as the Treasurer for the Health Occupations Students of America - a club for future healthcare professionals. He will be graduating as a nationally Certified Clinical Medical Assistant as part of a Medical Assisting program offered at Casa Roble. Nicolas also attained his California State Seal of Biliteracy in French and is an honored member of the Société Honoraire de Français. He has been awarded the national AP Scholar award as well as being on the Principles Honor Roll numerous times. He has also balanced all of this with work, being a private tutor for students in Physics, Math, English, & U.S. History. Nicolas has been accepted to the following Universities: UC Davis - Molecular and Medical Microbiology, B.S.; UC Irvine - Pharmaceutical Sciences, B.S.; UC San Diego - Public Health, B.S.; Sacramento State University - Nursing; San Diego State University - Chemistry, Biochemistry; California Polytechnic University – Biochemistry. He will most likely pursue Nursing at Sacramento State University.
These are all wonderful achievements from all of our Romanian youth. We support them wholeheartedly and we would like to once again congratulate them on their accomplishments, and we wish them lots of good fortune in their college pursuits!
