The first ray of sun rises high above
(I do not see it, but I still know)
Looking around I drown in the expanse of black
No light.
No light.
I hear the jailer’s keys
The minor sound shocks my heart)
Standing quickly, I wait for him to enter
No knock.
No knock.
He pulls me, drags me, shakes me
(He is the lion and I am the prey)
Magnificent light possesses my eyes
No sight.
No sight.
Out in the open I stand alone
(The fi rst lash breaks my back)
My punishment for my crime
No mercy.
No mercy.
I bow low in my pile of blood
(The river of my life)
A sorrowful way to leave the earth
No redemption.
No redemption.
We make the journey up the hill
(I heard I will see that Man)
My feet are sores and my heart aches
No more.
No more.
The first nail in my hand
(I already gave up the fight)
Turning my head I see the Man
No tear.
No tear.
His face rests on mine
(Just for a moment- I look away)
All the nails have been nailed
No escape.
No escape.
He rises high beside me
(The crown of thorns pierces His head)
Angels are beckoned to come save Him
No need.
No need.
I deserve this torture, not He
(I defend Him in front of all)
He makes me a promise -
No death.
No death.
This day, the longest of my life
(Will end in day, not night)
The Man will take me Home
No fear…
No fear…
