On June 5th the City of Portland held a Rose Festival Reception Honoring the 55th Anniversary of the Portland Sapporo Sister City Association and a Portland Sister City Association Friendship Proclamation signing ceremony.
Mayor Charlie Hales joined visiting Sister City Dignitaries and Portland Sister City Association Presidents in signing a historic Friendship Proclamation between the City of Portland and dignitaries from Portland’s nine sister cities (Ashkelon, Israel, Bologna, Italy, Guadalajara, Mexico, Kaoshiung, Taiwan, Khabarovsk, Russia, Mutare, Zimbabwe, Sapporo, Japan, Suzhou, China, Ulsan, South Korea) and from two friendship cities (Iasi, Romania and Utrecht, Holland).
The proclamation was signed on behalf of Portland Iasi Sister City Association, by Cornell Mann , the vice president of the organization. Board members and supporters of PISCA were present at the reception and at the signing ceremony. A monetary and an in kind donation were made by PISCA to support the successes of the event.
